Getting Started

How do I analyze a neighborhood?
Enter any address on the home page or click anywhere on the map. HoodEx generates a full report with scores, street views, and AI-written insights in under a minute. The process typically takes 2–5 minutes.
What do I see in my report?
Your report includes an overall livability score (out of 10), broken down into 5 key categories: Nature, Anthropos, Shells, Society, and Networks. You'll also find interactive maps, points of interest, satellite imagery, climate data, demographics, and more.
Can I analyze any address in the world?
Yes — HoodEx works globally. Urban areas in Europe, North America, and parts of Asia tend to have the richest data. Rural or developing areas may have less coverage, which is clearly reflected in the report.

Understanding Scores

What are the 5 scoring categories?
Nature measures green spaces, vegetation, air quality, and environmental health. Anthropos covers lifestyle, culture, dining, shopping, and entertainment. Shells evaluates the built environment — buildings, real estate, and infrastructure. Society looks at demographics, safety, education, and healthcare. Networks assesses transportation, connectivity, and accessibility.
How is the overall score determined?
The overall score is a weighted combination of all 5 category scores. Each category contributes proportionally based on its impact on livability. A score above 7 is excellent, 5–7 is average, and below 5 suggests areas for improvement.
What do the Calculated and AI Insight badges mean?
Calculated (green) means the value is derived from a transparent formula using verified data. AI Insight (blue) means the insight was generated by our AI based on available data. Both are clearly labeled so you know exactly how each value was produced.

Features Guide

What is the Points of Interest (POI) map?
The POI map shows all nearby amenities on an interactive map — restaurants, shops, parks, transit stops, schools, hospitals, and more. Each point is categorized with emoji markers and you can filter by category.
What are Travel Time maps?
Travel Time maps show how far you can reach from the analyzed location within a given time frame, using different transportation modes. These isochrone maps help you understand the area's accessibility and connectivity.
How do I share a report?
Click the Share button in your report. This generates a unique public link that anyone can open without a HoodEx account.
What are Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert modes?
These modes control how much detail you see. Beginner shows the essentials — scores and key highlights. Intermediate adds charts and comparisons. Expert reveals everything including raw metrics and advanced analytics.

Account & Credits

How do credits work?
Each neighborhood analysis uses 1 credit. Free accounts receive a limited number of credits to get started. You can buy additional credits or upgrade to a subscription plan for more analyses. Your credit balance is always visible in the top navigation bar.
What's included in the free plan?
The free plan gives you access to core analysis features including all 5 category scores, the POI map, satellite imagery, and basic climate data. You receive a limited number of credits to try the platform.
How do I upgrade my plan?
Visit the Pricing page from the navigation menu to see available plans. You can upgrade at any time — your new credits and features become available immediately after payment via Stripe.
Is my data private and secure?
Yes. Your analyses, lists, and personal information are private by default. Only you can access your data unless you explicitly share it using the Share feature. We use industry-standard encryption and never share your data with third parties.
